A Bailey bridge is a prefabricated steel truss bridge that arrives in parts and is assembled on site. We supply complete bridges and the parts to build or extend one: panels, transoms, braces, decking, end posts, bearings, pins and bolts. Spans run from 9 m to 61 m depending on the configuration and the load it has to carry.
Everything connects with pins and bolts — no site welding, no heavy plant. Panels are pinned together in rows, transoms carry the deck, and sway and diagonal braces stiffen the assembly. The bridge can be assembled on rollers at one bank and pushed across, or lifted into place by crane. It can also be dismantled and reused at another site.
Configurations are named by rows and storeys: SS (single-single), DS (double-single), TS (triple-single), DD (double-double) and TD, with an "R" suffix for the reinforced version.
| Span Range | Configuration | Load Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| 9-12 m | SS to DS | Auto-10 to auto-20; DS for 80 t trailer |
| 15-24 m | SS to DSR | Light vehicles to crawler and trailer loads |
| 27-36 m | DSR to TSR | Middle range to top capacity |
| 39-45 m | TSR to TDR | Depending on vehicle type |
| 48-61 m | DDR to TDR | Heavy duty configurations |
Send the span, vehicle types and axle loads and we confirm the configuration rather than leaving you to read a table.
Hot-dip galvanizing is standard for bridges — inside and out — so the steel survives weather, water and road salt. Painted finishes are available where appearance matters.
We support the whole job, not just supply: design, production, construction and maintenance. Assembly guidance is given remotely by video call, or by sending an engineer to site if you prefer. After-sales covers maintenance and dismantling.
Design work is free.
Fabrication and galvanizing are done before shipment, with packaging to suit sea freight and onward road transport. Parts are packed by type so the assembly sequence is not held up at site. Lead time is confirmed against the span and quantity when you order.
